New Chairman Is No End To PDP Crisis – Governor Yuguda

The Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda, is sure that the selection of a new chairman would not mean an end to the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

According to him,

“Crisis will always be there. If there is no crisis, there won’t be managers anyway. So, somebody must be in charge to manage the situation.” 

Mr. Yuguda, made this known to journalists shortly after emerging from a meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan alongside some of his governor colleagues from the North East.

He said the ability of whoever emerged as the chairman to solve whatever future crisis would be the most important factor.

“That’s why God structures leadership. And even at the family level, you have a leader to manage problems and crisis. So, we cannot be insulated from crisis. It is a continuous thing. The capacity to manage it is what makes you a good leader,” he said.

It would be recalled that President held a closed meeting barely 24 hours after Mr. Tukur resigned as the Chairman of the party. The meeting discussed a possible replacement for Mr. Tukur. 

Mr. Yuguda also dispelled insinuations that governors from the zone were opposed to having a chairman emerge from their states because of the conflict that characterised the tenure of Mr. Tukur and his state governor, Murtala Nyako.

“Are we God? It’s God that gives power. Supposing he gives somebody from my state, a PDP state, what will I do? I will follow him. Let us not go into that kind of imagination,” Mr. Yuguda said.

He said the governors were at the Villa to pay Friday homage to the President. He urged Nigerians to be patient and wait till Monday to know who the next PDP chairman would be.
