CHAN 2014: Why It's Unfair To Criticize Super Eagles – Chime

Enugu Rangers official, Foster Chime, described the criticism of the Super Eagles as unwarranted, after they were defeated 4-1 on penalties by Ghana, in the semi-final.

It would be recalled that Nigeria failed to beat their West African rivals, despite playing against 10 men towards the end of the match and for all 30 minutes of extra time. The disappointed fans harshly criticized the team over the loss.
Meahwile Chime, an information director at Rangers, commented on this as follows:
"It’s just a game, at least we’ve been winning. We lost to Mali in the beginning but we won others. Then there was the miracle against Morocco when we were down by three goals, but we came back to win 4-3. It was goalless this time and we were ousted on penalties. I believe it’s just sheer luck that was not on our side in the last game. Remember we struck the bar at a point in the game, and their goalkeeper made some great saves in the dying minutes."

He further added that losing the game is part of sports, noting:
"It’s either you win, you draw or you lose. Then you go back and prepare for another day."
The Eagles will now contest for bronze in the third place match against Zimbabwe on Saturday.
