The President of the Confederation of African Football has praised the Golden Eaglets for lifting the 2013 edition of the Fifa U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates







Issa Hayatou congratulates Nigeria U-17 team

CAF President Issa Hayatou has applauded the Golden Eaglets  on their congratulated the Nigeria U-17 team on their victory at the 15thedition of the Fifa U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates .
The Nigeria U-17 thrashed Mexico 3-0  to win a fourth title in Abu Dhabi on Friday  to become the most successful country in the history of the competition.

Hayatou , who attended the final, said “on behalf of the CAF Executive Committee and the African football family, I congratulate you on winning the title at the just ended FIFA U-17 World Cup in the UAE. You have made the whole of Africa proud.”
Aside from lifting the trophy, the Garba Manu boys won most of the individual awards at stake.
Kelechi Iheanacho picked up the Golden Ball award for the Most Valuable Player of the tournament as well as the Silver Boot award while Dele Alampasu was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the tournament as the team added the Fair Play prize to their collection.
It is noteworthy that Nigeria has won all the U17 World Cup staged in Asian countries which began with their conquest in China in 1985.
